The Honorable Matthew J. Kacsmaryk
Judge of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Texas Matthew Kacsmaryk is a United States District Judge for the Northern District of Texas. He received his B.A. summa cum laude from Abilene Christian University and is an Honors graduate of the University of Texas Law School, where he served as an Executive Editor of the Texas Review of Law & Politics. Judge Kacsmaryk began his legal career in private practice in the Dallas office of Baker Botts LLP. In 2008 he moved into the government sector as an Assistant United States Attorney for the Northern District of Texas. In 2013, he earned the Attorney General’s Award for Excellence in Furthering the Interest of U.S. National Security. In 2014, Judge Kacsmaryk joined the non-profit First Liberty Institute as Deputy General Counsel, where his practice focused on religious liberty litigation. Appointed by President Trump, Judge Kacsmaryk was commissioned as a judge on the United States District Court for the Northern District of Texas on June 21, 2019. In 2026, he was named Jurist of the Year by the Texas Review of Law & Politics. |
